I note the new Director of Football down Govan way previously headed up the Man City Academy that was fined by the Premier League £300k in May for tapping up young academy players and had also previously been reported to Fifa for ‘trafficking’ a young player in 2016.
Clearly not one who respects the rules that apply to others. He will fit right in at Ibrox.
Do DoF’s have to pass the fit and proper sniff test. 🙂

Over on JJ’s site a poster (The Man) reminds us of a key part of the evidence in relation to the operation of the tax avoidance schemes.

If there was nothing to fear, not only did Rangers not present documentation and side letters to the footballing authorities, as questioned by Duncan Fraser, the evidence available is that they apparently denied these side letters actually existed when questioned by the HMRC.

The whole matter goes far beyond a simple administrative error or differences in interpretation of tax laws and footballing rules.

This was a dishonest undertaking from day one and the subterfuge in relation to side letters and the likes continued for many years despite knowing investigators were on the case.

Was drafting something similar last night but didn’t post.

I recall recently Les Gray, the Chariman of Hamilton, waxing lyrical why we needed a string T’Rangers in the league etc etc blah blah blah.

However there is never any full, open and transparent explanation why this is the perceived wisdom.

I can wholly agree with some of the arguments if Rangers/T’Rangers were bringing lots of positives to our game.

However for the last few decades, be it through the dodgy tax arrangements of SDM, the forked tongue of their current ‘chair’, the convicted tax dodger DCK and the actions of their supports along with the threats regularly issued by the likes of  Club 1872, surely one has to ask what is it exactly that others, like Gray and Killie’s ex Chair Johnston, think we need them for.

It’s not just a lack of ambition from some, it seems to be a fixed mind set that the status quo must in someway be preserved without any question whatsoever.

I’m sure the answer is cash from the TV deals, the chance of an occasional bumper crowd at a cup game and maybe flogging a player to them now and again,  so if that is all it takes – please just come out and say so and admit they could kill your granny and you would just turn a blind eye.

Is it not fair to say that the JJ emails show the whole board decisions as
Doncaster – No appeal – no reason given
Johnston – No appeal – no reason given but was to be discussed at next board meeting.
Thompson – No appeal – wants to draw a line under it.
Fraser – No appeal (has concerns over level of punishment etc) but decision appears to be purely based on the technicalities of what they would be appealing on.
Topping – No appeal (has concerns over level of punishment etc) but appears to be going with the majority of the four above.
Reilly – No disclosure to date of what his feedback was. However clearly concerned over the whole process, lack of time etc etc.

Given that as many as three members were possibly concerned over the how the whole process was handled and that the final tax position is now known it is hard to imagine why a review of the whole affair is not merited.

Had just composed what was the best critique ever of Hearts performance of weekend and the ins and outs of Levein’s management style and where the club are going.

However it didn’t post due to the new blog ending comments on the old one. When I hit the back button my missive was gone from the posting box.

You’ll just have to take my word for it as I can’t be arsed typing it all again.

A very nice summation in a few lines.

To paraphrase a movie what T’Rangers fans deserve is the truth.
The trouble is they can’t handle the truth!

Interestingly enough, calls for wanting something ‘better’ were coming from some Hearts fans over the weekend given the fairly meek performance at Ibrox.

While many Hearts fans are more than aware of the calamity that nearly engulfed the club some are worried that an attitude of being grateful for just surviving, along with Levein’s tactics are holding the club back.

Therefore there has to be an element of acknowledging where things have gone wrong in the past but that should not necessarily taint your future.

However some T’Rangers fans seen to both deny or block out their past and expect things to be ‘back to normal’ ASAP.

The answer is of course getting the balance right when rebuilding.

Despite having wished for Levein to have really taken the game to T’rangers yesterday, as there was absolutely nothing to gain from playing it cautiously, I still think in terms of a long term strategy he is on the right track but do acknowledge patience is wearing thin.

Is it time for the Sin Bin?
Let the conspiracy theories commence 🙂

I note with interest that earlier this month Hummel signed a five year deal with Middelsborough (currently in a play-off slot in the English Championship).

Yet in any of the press coverage their is no vulgar mention of the money side of the deal.

Why is the SMSM so keep to put values on contracts with a certain club?

I also note that while the super soaraway is saying the T’Rangers three year deal is worth up to £10m, others simply report is as £10m.

Can’t even get their regurgitation of press releases straight.

I don’t know what possessed me but I took a look at Keith ‘Wealth Off the Radar’ Jackson’s piece today on the DR website re T’Rangers debacle.
He is mildly critical of King and his decisions but the main thrust of his article is that he seems to be backing Miller and Wallace and is implying that, from having a relatively untried management team of Warburton & Weir, to the Caixinha fiasco and the upgrading of the U20 coach to manager, T’Rangers salvation over the last five games of this season should have been entrusted to the leaders of the Snap Chat group who have no coaching and managerial experience whatsoever.
As someone said the other day the managers list at Sevco has been

TV personality turned Gardener
Janitor / Caretaker 1
McCall
City Trader turned Magic Hat
Janitor / Caretaker 2
Journeyman Clown
Janitor / Caretaker 3
What next?  – Trouble Makers.

Jackson would be as well trawling the south side Glasgow parks for amateur team coaches to be given a shot in the Ibrox dug out.

If that is what passes as informed and considered sports journalism then no wonder the circulation figures are dropping like a stone.

At least when Hearts had the Riccarton Three they directed their ire in the right direction towards the boardroom and not the poor sap in the dug out who was having to deal with a chaotic and shambolic organization.
