Comment on Tangled Up In Blue by Stephen O’Donnell (Book Review) by bordersdon.

It's evident that activity on here has reached a new low! Is this because:

    1. Folk see no hope of changing/improving the governance of Scottish football and of ever getting a recognition that a certain cheating club, who won many Scottish football honours whilst cheating, died and a new club was created?

    2. A sense that Res 12 has been kicked so far into the long grass that it is lost?

    3. There is no expectation that the new club (see above) is in any way heading for administration/liquidation? Certainly in the past there has been nothing like an impending financial disaster to get the SFM keyboards rattling.

Or a mixture of all three of the above?

Of course I seriously doubt he cost anything like £7m. The upfront payment will be out of the Euro money. The other instalments won't need to be paid because if he performs with his feet and not his fists he could be sold into the over inflated English market to a Championship team but only if that happens before the inevitable insolvency event.

You are deluding yourself I'm afraid DB if you think there will be an insolvency event.

Anent the Kent transfer fee (there is no doubt that he will improve the team by the way).

At the prices quoted and assuming attendances of 48,000 at all 3 home games, and taking in to account hospitality, TV revenues TRFC will NET at least £10m from the group stages to add to the cash they received for getting there. That excludes money from points gained in the group stage.

    Yes the duopoly is back!

Since my post above I see there is a UEFA delegate among the officials:

    8 August 2019, 20:00 CET – Herning (MCH Arena)

FC Midtjylland (DEN) – Rangers FC (SCO)

    Referee: Kristo Tohver (EST)

Assistant Referee 1: Silver Kõiv (EST)

Assistant Referee 2: Aron Härsing (EST)

    Fourth Official: Juri Frischer (EST)

UEFA Referee Observer: Markus Strömbergsson (SWE)

    UEFA Delegate: Ivan Tsitovich (RUS)

So Mr Tsitovich will be the man presumably.

    Celtic’s Questions to Answer

You may have answered my queries EJ. Still think it would be dangerous for HMRC to concede the grossing up principle?

    Celtic’s Questions to Answer
Anent the Times article: I refuse to subscribe to read the full article but have a couple of queries if some resident expert can help.

Why did HMRC drop the penalties? Or did they agree that they were wrongly applied?

The bit that started (couldn't see the end) with the tax (and presumably NIC) due being levied on the net EBT amount. I assume this means that HMRC calculated the taxes due on the Gross amount that would have had to be paid to produce a net payment of say £100k. This would be likely to be about £170k if I understand correctly and so resulting in a much higher assessment.. If I am correct, and that is likely a big if, surely HMRC would not agree to any reduction in this?

Any help appreciated before I meet my tribute act drinking pals tomorrow.

Greed has caused CFC plc to sell its soul without a blush , pretty much as the SFA/SPFL sold the soul of Scottish Football integrity to a miserable wretch.

Brother Walfrid will be turning in his grave

JC you have never put it better! I can only add that all clubs are complicit. As we know!! (not a fan of TD's but the reaction to your post on this site is wow just wow)

I haven’t seen any comment from other teams that play in the same league as Saracens it’s almost like they trust their admins to do the right thing.

Exeter are certainly nae happy! And Leicester have called for an investigation in to all clubs finances.

Just a reminder of where RIFC was at the half year point (31 December 2018).

Indeed EJ. Even if the audited accounts ( I assume that the interims are unaudited) are half as bad as some on here are suggesting (hoping) there will need to be a masterclass in spin to explain the contrast/movement. Not  sure what the prophets of TRFC/RIFC doom on here base their forecasts on but we will see. For the avoidance of doubt I will be more than happy to see the brown stuff hit the fan (preferably Chris Jack angryangry) ! But I doubt it.
