Ryan, you obviously know a lot more Rangers fans than me. Many of those I know are very firmly in the camp that HMRC etc are to blame. I even know a highly educated man who is utterly convinced senior people in HMRC are Celtic fans and that is the only reason they went after Rangers. Many bloggers at the time did peddle that view.

It is with a mixture of sadness and anger that I view the sustained resentment and lashing out from leading Rangers fans groups towards others who did nothing wrong. However I do believe it has been encouraged by successive Rangers boards since 2012, simply because the fans are their major income source.

I see the name Brian Kennedy being mentioned again. If I recall correctly he is a Hibs fan who was attempting to help because his wife's family is steeped in Rangers. He also seems to be far removed from the type of characters who have come and gone at Ibrox. He didn't make his fortune by throwing good money after bad, and I am certain he would have demanded Rangers live within their means. In short, he is not what the average Ibrox patron seems to want.

The behaviour meets the description of fraud. In particular the proof offered at end of March.

I imagine in that case CAS would be the last place King wants this to go. My money was originally on the SFA going for the 'we've taken the advice of senior Counsel and blah blah blah'…we know the rest. They would be 100% backed by the media were they to do that.  However if that is an option why have they not done so already? Has senior Counsel already informed them otherwise? Have Celtic informed them that if they do, then they will publish the damning evidence the Res 12 people worked so hard to establish on the club website? Celtic must still answer Res 12 via an AGM in any case.

Do you think the SFA were of the same view as many fans, many in the media, that Rangers were simply too big to fail, that someone would step in and it just wouldn't be allowed to happen?

I don't know for sure if any SMSM Journalists read this site, although I suspect some will have a look at it from time to time.  Below is a wee reminder to them of something they seem unable to grasp.

Since Rangers were liquidated in 2012 after illegally cheating the state out of tens of millions, a total of nine clubs have had their names engraved on the three major Scottish football trophies. Step forward Aberdeen, Celtic, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, St Johnstone, St Mirren, Ross County.

Why am I saying this? Because when several Journalists say they would like to see a different name on the trophy come Sunday it's not really for that reason at all is it, given the spread of names since 2012. Why don't they just be honest and say all they want is for Rangers to win, and Rangers to be the most successful club. They don't really care about anyone else winning. They won't all be like that of course but the majority clearly are.

Superb! The sfm.scot blog at its best.

Well done , gentlemen, in making the effort to establish truth.

It was also a wee reminder to myself not to get the paranoid heid on so quickly without knowing the full facts!

In the interests of fairness it is only right that I confirm the following after a quick check with the SPFL.

They have confirmed to me the convention is the final is stated every year as the winner of semi final 1 v the winner of semi final 2 as they are drawn. Fair enough.

StevieBC might be right in thinking it's unconscious bias.

As I said, some will see it as nit picking on my part. From my point of view, being in my late 50's, and having grown up in the West of Scotland, I see it very much as deliberate policy.  Just like when they were covering an end of Hampden, they covered the end that Rangers fans would always occupy if they played there. Other fans would get the covered end if Rangers were not playing, but Celtic fans were left exposed to the elements no matter who they played. I know others on here have raised the point about the national stadium having 'ends' and I can see where they are coming from. However, that doesn't take away the fact that the Rangers support were always better catered for than other fans. I haven't been to Hampden since 2007, and unless there is root and branch reform of the SFA I will never be in it again, which means of course I will never be in it again! Especially as even my own club's board appear quite happy to sit at the back of the bus, as evidenced at the recent AGM.

John, the link you provided shows winning teams first. It does not show how the match was billed in terms of who was the 'home' team. As I say I can see no valid reason for it to be Rangers this time, other than the SPFL simply regarding them as the superior club in terms of importance and status. This seems like good old fashioned 'get to the back of the bus' stuff.
