Some reasonable points in that methinks. No doubt someone will disagree about some of it.

How can they be `establishment `? – if abandoned to spiv mercy
Don`t get that
===============================================

It’s a habit of mind. They are so used to supporting the ‘establishment club’ that they still do so even when all there is is a hollow shell painted to look like the thing they think they are backing.

Quite correct. And also the fact that when HMRC first made enquiries instead of handing all the papers requested by the tax people Murray and RFC obfuscated and delayed and delayed – and rumours of shredding machines going full blast started to circulate. This delay rather than opening the books and dealing with HMRC as soon as possible meant the tax bill mounted.

I know we have to accept this legally but my personal opinion – I think we’re allowed that on any case provided we’ve bothered to look at the evidence – is that if all the papers/records that should have been handed over were handed over there would have been a different outcome. Indeed it wouldn’t even have gone to a tribunal. I’m minded of Heidi Poon’s comments and also that the BTC guilty admissions were due to the side letters being available. The “not guilty” verdicts are surely all where no side letters were found. If they never existed why did they not let the tax people see everything? Why were payment details improperly stated in the player registrations with the SFA?

BTW I typed that of the top of my head so I may have a point or two a little confused but I’m sure if so someone will correct me. I think my general thrust is correct though.

Just getting time to comment on the sale of Ryan Gauld. Well done to Dundee Utd for bringing this boy through, protecting themselves by giving him a good contract, and reaping the benefit of a ritzy transfer fee, with maybe even more to come!
=====================================

If you read some of the background about Gauld it’s clear – though he obviously had great natural talent – he was lucky enough to meet the ideal coach in Ian Cathro, a man responsible for the development of some of United’s best young players. He’s now working for Portuguese side Rio Ave.

If I were an SFA bigwig and really cared about the future of Scottish football (I know …) I would move heaven and earth to get him back to Scotland and working on the development of our young players. But then who would want someone who never had a real professional football background to be telling them how to develop good young players?

Board have decided to keep Alan Archibald on as manager in the Championship.  Any opinion on this?  Going by the one really active Jags Fans website opinion seems split but most willing to get behind the decision regardless of whether pro or anti keeping him on.
(My one worry would be that they are talking about giving him a budget for going straight up.  I’m not sure what that means.  I hope it doesn’t mean splurging all our money from being in the top league in one season.  We need to spread it over at least two seasons.  Put this bit in brackets as it’s more a Jags conversation.  The initial paragraph may be of more general interest.  How often are managers kept on in these circumstances?

Or must be a couple who’re not much interested in football – the guy had over 100 caps for Sweden a good number while playing for Celtic (so it must have been mentioned in Sweden any time he played for the national team).

I couldn’t see a  comments option otherwise I might have asked about public broadcasters sweeping things under the carpet.

Long ago the BBC used to try to be unbiased – though an establishment bias was always there to an extent but it was such a big beast there were always a number of voices (in e.g. documentary programs) who gave alternative views.
Nowadays – and for quite some time now – these voices have mostly been extinguished and more worryingly the “establishment” point of view is not only openly promoted but it is a much more right wing and extreme establishment which is being promoted (see the likes of Nick Robinson and Andrew Neil) and often promoted dishonestly.
In view of this it’s hardly surprising that a sports program where journalism was never so pure should be happy to go along with and promote lies about what has been happening in our sport.  I’m constantly surprised that people say they are surprised by this and seem to think BBC is unbiased.

I’m shocked at the McCann claim by JJ.  He could surely find himself facing legal action if that found it’s way to the family.
