I can't say for sure but I believe it was felt that such a move would only serve to play into the hands of those who want to undermine the status of the women's game.

I think you'll find it would be different club = not one of "ra peepul" = threat to national security.

A bit more on the smaller goals for women discussion.

    Fair points.

I also remember a few years someone suggested reducing teams to 10 a side rather than 11.

The thinking behind this was that the immense improvements in athleticism and overall fitness levels had led to teams being able to run further and faster that in the past. As a result an average team could just depend in depth and chase things down for 90 minutes.

The 10 a side proponents argued that this would open up some space on the pitch which should be an advantage to more skilful players and maybe more goals.

    Naturally nothing happened.

And a very well done to the linesman Clancy for spotting Morelos' elbow today.  "

Not sure that he did. I thought it was the linesman on the other side.

What he did manage however was to miss a straight left from Ryan Kent pretty much on the halfway line. That took a very special level of skill.

Clearly the internet has yet to reach Motherwell.

However, sadly there has been nothing other than silence from Hughie.

I’ve often wondered why that should be.

    Any ideas??

"The kind of guy who ,when we were kids playing football in the streets of Parkhead or Govan or in Dunfermline or Aberdeen or Dundee or wherever, would be told 'no' when he asked for a game."

John, of all your many posts, I can't remember one which encapsulates everything we love (and hate) about football better than this one.

I can just see him crawling home to his maw.

    You are a star..

The idea that Brendan Rodgers has deliberately sent out a team / formation which is less than optimal in order to force the Board’s hand has been floated on a number of occasions this year.

Only he can answer that charge but if it is true he should be sacked on the spot for gross misconduct.

As for today’s game Celtic were awful and the defeat which had to happen at some point has now arrived. It’s not what any Celtic fan would want but, like the first car park ding on a new car, at least it’s happened and everyone can move on.

I know that criticism of referees doesn’t go down too well on this site, but accepting that the better team on the day won, can anyone explain how Morelos could kick, elbow, stamp on and punch the goolies of four different Celtic players and not collect at least one yellow card – never mind the four reds that could easily have been justified?
